Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill has been flirting with the idea of a trade from the organization for months now.
It all began in his media availability after the last regular season game when he simply told reporters “I’m out bruh.”
He has since walked the comments back, but over the last month or so, he’s been sending cryptic message after cryptic message on social media.
Tensions between Hill and the Dolphins have reached a boiling point on Tuesday after general manager Chris Grier gave a press conference and spoke about some of the players on the roster.
Grier made some truly unbelievable comments that made some enemies within the fanbase.
In a stunning admission, Grier told reporters that it’s likely time to move on from cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
The former No. 5 overall pick has been considered one of the best cornerbacks in the game from the moment he entered the league.
So, the fact that Miami is willing to move on from him so matter of factly is shocking.
Now to the main event, Grier announced that the team is not currently interested in trading Hill and that they’ve received no calls about his availability.
However, he did say that if a team were to offer two first-round picks then the Dolphins would strongly consider parting ways.
Grier has been the general manager for nearly a decade and was once considered to be one of the best in the NFL at his job.
But as of late, he has made too much of a habit of undervaluing his draft picks.
Now, this fiasco with one of the NFL’s best receivers may dig his grave as general manager if the Dolphins do not have a successful season.
This Hill development spells trouble for the Los Angeles Chargers because they have been heavily linked to him ever since he made his apparent trade request back in January.
We’ve seen the team be hesitant to part with draft picks or pay receivers top dollar, so multiple first-round picks may be way out of their price range.
The Chargers have been bashed this offseason for seemingly undermining their need for a receiver, but you can’t blame them if they bow out of these discussions as well.
The eight-time Pro Bowler just turned 31 and is coming off his worst season since he was just a gadget special teams player.
The sense around the league is that Los Angeles wants to lean into the youth movement which is evident by them drafting Ladd McConkey last year and their refusal to pursue Davante Adams and Cooper Kupp in free agency.
Hill is still probably a top five receiver when he has a starting caliber quarterback, but his best years are behind him and two first-round picks is just too expensive at this stage of his career.
