Jazz Chisholm Jr. dressed appropriately for Jackie Robinson Day on Tuesday.
Tuesday marked Jackie Robinson Day in MLB, which honors the day Robinson made his MLB debut and broke the color barrier in baseball. Chisholm Jr. is one of the current black players in MLB, and he celebrated the day with fitting attire.
Chisholm Jr. wore baggy, rolled up pants to his knees — just like the style Robinson used to wear in 1947 and beyond.
That was the style of pants players used to wear, though over time players began to wear their pant legs lower.
Players throughout MLB also wore jersey No. 42 as a tribute to Robinson, who wore that number for his entire career.
The Dodgers, the team for whom Robinson played, wore Brooklyn Dodgers hats on Tuesday.
Robinson played in MLB from 1947-1956. 1957 was the last year the Dodgers played in Brooklyn before moving to Los Angeles for the 1958 season.
Nothing topps Greg Bird’s tribute to Jackie Robinson in 2017 though.
