Travis Kelce shared one of the most special moments he experienced with Andy Reid. During his podcast New Heights, the Super Bowl champion tight end finally revealed what happened during the call from the head coach to confirm that he would be drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I thought I was going to be the first tight end taken off the board. Ended up being the fifth. The Jets were sold on me. I had a great interview with Rex Ryan. He said: ‘It was between you and Geno (Smith). If Geno’s available, we’re gonna take him.’ And they ended up taking Geno. Thank goodness.”
After that pick in the third round of 2013, the rest is history. Kelce has built one of the great dynasties alongside Patrick Mahomes and, before thinking about retirement, he wants to win a fourth ring.

Is Travis Kelce retiring?
No. Travis Kelce is not retiring from football. The tight end has confirmed that he will fulfill the final year of his contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, aiming to seek redemption for the Super Bowl loss against the Eagles.
In addition, during that conversation about how he experienced the 2013 draft, Kelce admitted that when he picked up the call, he got scared thinking it was Jeff Fisher calling him to join the struggling Rams.
However, on the other end of the line was Andy Reid, who told him not to ruin his NFL career after all his problems in college football. “Andy Reid, I had no idea I was even on his board. So, when I got the call, it’s Andy Reid. I said, I’m going to be the best tight end you’ve ever coached.”
