As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for offseason workouts, linebacker Micah Parsons enters the final season of his rookie deal on a familiar stage: elite production paired with protracted extension talks.
While one of the league’s premier talents finds himself amid contract negotiations, another headline grabbed attention on Friday.
Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe’s contract with Colin Cowherd’s The Volume has expired, and industry insiders tell Front Office Sports that multiple suitors are ready to sign Sharpe to a deal exceeding $100 million.
Within hours of that report, Parsons took to social media to fire back at anyone suggesting he “stop the podcast.”
“‘Stop the podcast Micah,’ yet Ite,” said Parsons.
Parsons launched “The Edge with Micah Parsons” in partnership with Bleacher Report in 2023.
It has since become one of the biggest podcasts in the sports realm.
For Parsons, the challenge remains balancing high‑stakes extension talks with continued on‑field dominance and his growing media influence.
Negotiations between Parsons and Owner Jerry Jones have been both direct and deliberate.
Jones says he’s “spent five, six hours with him himself,” hashing out guarantees, term lengths and total value in face-to-face meetings, per Dallas Cowboys staff writer Tommy Yarrish.
Though a framework is largely agreed upon, Jones insists there’s “no urgency,” preferring to “pay more and get it right” rather than rush into a contract.
In 13 games last season, Parsons recorded 12 sacks, 43 tackles and two forced fumbles, ranking among the league’s top pass rushers.
Across 63 career games, he’s logged 52.5 sacks, earned four Pro Bowl nods and been named First-Team All-Pro twice since his 2021 debut.
