Davis last pitched last Saturday for Oklahoma City, throwing 39 pitches in 2 innings.
The Dodgers called up Noah Davis as an extra relief pitcher ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The right-hander takes the active roster slot vacated on Thursday when Bobby Miller was optioned to Triple-A.
Davis was acquired by the Dodgers from the Red Sox for cash considerations on March 27, and in five games with Triple-A Oklahoma City allowed five runs in 5⅔ innings, with nine strikeouts and three walks, striking out a third of his batters faced.
He last pitched on Saturday, throwing 39 pitches in two innings in Round Rock, Texas, making Davis the fresh arm after the Dodgers used four relievers to cover the final six innings on Wednesday against the Rockies.
With Matt Sauer and starters Justin Wrobleski, Landon Knack, and Miller all within 15 days since they were optioned to the minors, the other available pitchers on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster were Davis and Nick Frasso. Evan Phillips is also an option to be activated from the injured list after pitching in six rehab games so far with Oklahoma City, but Dave Roberts told reporters Wednesday in Los Angeles that Phillips would likely pitch another game in Triple-A this weekend.
Davis pitched parts of three seasons in the majors with the Rockies (2022-24), putting up a 7.71 ERA in 18 games, including six starts, with 43 strikeouts and 23 walks in 51⅓ innings.
