The Buffalo Bills may have already signed Joe Bosa to a free-agent deal. They may already have signed plenty of defensive linemen to bolster the group for the 2025 season.
That doesn’t mean they are done.
Buffalo needs an elite edge rusher to work with both Bosa and former first-round pick Greg Rousseau. One of the top edge rushers may be the perfect fit for that goal.
T.J. Watt requires a new deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s entering the final year of his contract, but could very well be traded since he struggled late in the year, and is 31 years old.
One national site thinks the reigning AFC East champion Buffalo Bills could be a landing spot for Watt if the Steelers look to move on from him.
“If the Steelers do pull the plug on one of the best players in franchise history, all 31 teams should call given his durability and still-high level of performance,” the site writes, “The Bills, Lions, and Commanders are among the Super Bowl contenders with the clearest holes at edge rusher who could benefit most from Watt.
“But in reality, the Steelers would be looking for (and should probably receive) multiple first-round picks for any blockbuster Watt deal.”
Well, there’s a problem there.
Two massive problems there, in the details.
One – Nobody will ever offer “multiple first-round picks” for a 31-year-old pass-rusher.
Two – Indeed, part of the point of the Steelers ever saying goodbye here is because they think it unwise to give a long-term deal worth $40 million APY to an aging player.
But …
Adding Watt to Buffalo’s defense would be the finishing touch for the group to try and finally get past the Chiefs at this point.
It’s unlikely anything happens, though. Watt has been Pittsburgh’s best player for close to a decade, and that may not end anytime soon, either.
