The Dallas Cowboys presumably will have Micah Parsons rushing opposing passers for the foreseeable future.

They could use some help on the defensive line around him, though.

One name newly floating out there would give the Cowboys a player who had 11.5 sacks two seasons ago before struggling through a rocky 2024.

That’d be Houston Texans lineman Denico Autry. He’s suggested as a trade target by Pro Football Network’s Sterling Xie.

Autry previously played for Matt Eberflus, who is now with the Cowboys, when he was defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Texans signed Autry to a two-year, $20 million deal last offseason, but he missed the first six games of the 2024 season due to a PED suspension. He finished the season with three sacks.

Autry previously played for the Titans, where he put together his double-digit sack output.

The Cowboys lost some of their pass-rushing depth this offseason with the departures of Chauncey Golston and Carl Lawson.

It’s not yet clear if the Texans would entertain the idea of moving Autry, but if they could get a solid enough draft pick to draft a cheaper, younger player with the potential to be an impact defender, it could intrigue them enough to make this in-state deal.

If not, it might be the Cowboys who have to use draft capital to try and shore up the defensive line around the soon-to-be-paid Parsons (and if the contract negotiations keep lingering, it becomes even more of a priority for Dallas to find other production getting after the quarterback, just in case of the nightmare scenario where Parsons decides that he wants out).
