One of the best prep wrestlers in South Dakota history, Nash Hutmacher, is signing with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. The Polar Bear, as he was nicknamed during his time at Chamberlain high school, went on to play football collegiately at the University of Nebraska following high school.

Hutmacher got playing time as both a freshman and sophomore for the Huskers, but started as both a junior and senior on the defensive line. Throughout his two years as a starter, he combined for 64 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, and 6.5 sacks. Hutmacher was also honorable mention All Big Ten honors as both a junior and senior as well.

In high school, Hutmacher was a three-sport athlete in track and field, football, and wrestling. While he was a three-time all-state football player, and a two-time state champion in track, his four state wrestling championships are what most will remember from his time as a Chamberlain Cub.

He finished his high school career with 73 straight pins. He didn’t lose a match between his freshman and senior seasons.

During the 2025 National Football League draft, Hutmacher didn’t hear his name called, but the Ravens came calling on Saturday following the conclusion of the draft to add him to their roster. Each NFL team can enter training camp with a 90-man roster. By the time the regular season starts, each roster must be cut down to 53-players.

Rookie mini camp starts in early May, which will be followed by OTA’s (organized team activities) in June, and then training camp in July.
