BREAKING: Yankees Should Target Reliever Of Year Favorite After Devin Williams News

The New York Yankees traded for former Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams this past offseason and have already made the shocking decision to demote him from the closing role for the foreseeable future.

Luke Weaver presumably will be entering the role once again while the two-time reliever of the year winner gets right.

While the Yankees are not sold, this could be the end of Williams being their closer; one of the league’s best could be on the trade block as the season continues. Mason Miller, who had been rumored to be on the block in the offseason, could be the answer to the Yankees’ question in the ninth inning.

The closing role is one of the most volatile in Major League Baseball, and at the drop of a hat, you can go from being the one your manager leans on in the big moments to losing his trust completely.

Miller saved 28 games for the Athletics last season, and with the A’s flirting with .500 out of the gates, the big right-hander could be on the block again. Miller has closed out eight games for the A’s this season and is looking to earn a large extension this offseason. The Yankees should be in the running for his services because you can never have too many steady relief arms.

Miller is entering his arbitration years, and as one of the league’s best bullpen arms, he will be demanding a big payday if the A’s do not get ahead in the contract extension talks during this season. The Athletics have a history of letting go of their big names before their payday, and Miller fits the bill perfectly.
