It’s somewhat questionable why the Miami Dolphins didn’t move on from Jalen Ramsey before or during the NFL draft.
The Dolphins had a reason to keep him on the roster during the draft, as waiting until after June 1 to move Ramsey makes financial sense. A trade before that would result in a $25.213 million dead-money cap hit.
After June 1, a trade would be an $18 million hit. However, with the Dolphins having a few needs, moving Ramsey for a pick in this draft might’ve made the most sense.
