Since Brian Schottenheimer was named the Dallas Cowboys head coach, we have heard about the love he has for his players and the want to develop a culture that will power this franchise back to where it feels it belongs – the top of NFL football.
Being a family-oriented man, Schottenheimer has been making small moves this offseason to get a family-friendly vibe flowing through The Star.
So it has all been very lovey-dovey from Schottenheimer, and the rookie class has gotten to see that first-hand, but make no mistake about it: Yes, Schotty emphasises togetherness, but he drives a hard line, too.
With rookie minicamp underway, Schottenheimer wants this year’s class to take things seriously once they leave The Star. This is big boy football now.
“The maturity of this group, they are very mature,” Schottenheimer said. “I think they’ll maximize the fact of, while they’re away, using that time to get caught up on what we’re doing, but also find time to work out.
“It’s kinda getting closer to go time for them now.”

Now it was the way Schottenheimer delivered that last sentence.
It was very forthright. He means business.
Go time.
A lot of work is being done at rookie minicamp to get them up to speed on the playbook, and Schottenheimer stated that the install for rookies will be smaller than it will be for the veterans.
But these rookies, while the buzz and excitement of getting drafted was great, Schottenheimer has made it clear that’s over. It’s time to work.
Or as he said in no uncertain terms – it’s go time.
