The Pittsburgh Steelers made a major move on Wednesday morning, pulling off a trade with the Dallas Cowboys featuring young dynamic wide receiver George Pickens.

In return, the Steelers brought in a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection. Pittsburgh didn’t get a great return, but it was clear that they were ready to move on from the 24-year-old wide receiver.

After pulling off an early offseason trade with the Seattle Seahawks for DK Metcalf, the Steelers are still in good shape at the wide receiver position. However, they could use a legitimate No. 2 weapon for Aaron Rodgers or whoever their starting quarterback ends up being.

To that end, Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan has suggested a major move the team could consider making to replace Pickens and potentially even improve the wide receiver room. He wants Pittsburgh to sign veteran free agent Keenan Allen.

“Steelers next move: Sign Keenan Allen,” he wrote on X. “And WR room is better than it was with George Pickens.”

Allen would be a nice pickup, although it would have to be seen on the field whether or not he would be better than Pickens.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Chicago Bears, Allen put together a solid year. He played in 15 games, catching 70 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns. Even at 33 years old, Allen is still more than capable of making a big impact.

Throughout his entire 154-game NFL career, Allen has racked up 974 receptions for 11,274 yards and 66 touchdowns.

Pickens ends his tenure with the Steelers after playing 48 games. He caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.
