Yankees Captain Aaron Judge Countersued Amid $33,000 Couch Controversy

Aaron Judge isn’t just battling pitchers this season. Judge and his wife, Samantha, are also fighting a legal battle off the field over what he claims was a $750,000 case of designer deception, which includes a $33,000 couch.

According to a report from the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the Judges are being hit with a countersuit from Amanda Drew of Drew Designs. Drew claims the couple refused to pay outstanding bills tied to renovations of their homes in Tampa and New York City.

This comes after the Judges sued Drew in January, accusing her of fraud and claiming she manufactured invoices to overcharge them by at least $750,000. That included a now-infamous couch they say could have been purchased for as low as $18,100.

In her countersuit filed in March, Drew denies the allegations and argues that the couple wrongfully terminated their contract and still owes money for completed work. She also disputes the Judges’ claims of hidden fees, saying any charges were standard and properly disclosed.

The battle over receipts has intensified this month, with Judge’s legal team issuing more than 60 subpoenas to contractors and vendors tied to the renovations. The Judges say Drew refused to hand over key financial records, making it impossible to know the full extent of what they were overcharged.

This off-field drama comes as Judge continues to play under his record-setting $360 million contract with the Yankees, which the couple claims made them a target for inflated costs.

The legal battles are clearly no distraction for Judge at the ballpark. He is having a historic start to the 2025 season. Through 46 games, the Yankees’ captain boasts a .401 batting average, leading the American League, 15 home runs and 41 RBIs, placing him among the league leaders in both categories. His .490 on-base and
