BREAKING: Nolan Arenado’s Recent Comments May Make Him A Good Fit For The New York Yankees

The 10-time Gold Glover said that he would move to first base if a team needed him to.

One player has made himself even more available in a potential trade for the New York Yankees.

Nolan Arenado has been rumored to be on the move this offseason. The St. Louis Cardinals have been engaged in talks for their third baseman with the Bronx Bombers expected to be one of the team’s interested in acquiring his services. Arenado may be interested in moving to first base in order to be more versatile for his new team, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic.

Arenado has been one of the best third basemen of this generation. He is an eight-time All-Star 10-time Gold Glove winner and five-time Silver Slugger during his 12-year career between the Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals.

Arenado’s 2024 was one of the worst of his career. He hit .272 with 16 home runs, 71 RBIs, and a 2.5 WAR in 152 games. The slugger has 341 homers and 1,132 runs batted in throughout his career.

Arenado has never played first base throughout his minor or major league career.

Arenado is under contract for the next three seasons. He will earn $32 million in 2025, $27 million in 2026, and $15 million in 2027. The Cardinals have been rumored to want a lower payroll than their near-$200 million figure in 2024.

The Yankees declined their 2025 club option for Anthony Rizzo. The team has Jazz Chisholm Jr. as their everyday third baseman, but they may be inclined to move him to a position that he has spent more time at during his career.
