The New York Yankees stayed hot on May 21, defeating the Texas Rangers by a score of 4-3.
Wednesday evening marked the third straight victory for the Yankees. But even more impressive is their prolonged hot stretch, which has yielded wins in 10 out of their last 13 outings.
Among the surging Bombers’ hitters is rookie outfielder Jasson Domínguez, who stole the May 21 contest from the Rangers with a walk-off home run in the ninth.
Per MLB.com reporter Bryan Hoch , “the blast by ‘The Martian’ was the first walk-off homer by a Yankee since Sept. 20, 2022, when Giancarlo Stanton hit a grand slam to defeat the [Pittsburgh] Pirates.”
Add it to the growing list of accomplishments for the early AL Rookie of the Year candidate. On May 10, Domínguez became the youngest player in Yankees history to record a three-home run outing, and now this.
The game-winner was his sixth homer of the season, along with his 22nd RBI.
Right-fielder Cody Bellinger also went yard for the Yankees on Wednesday, his eighth of the year, and superstar Aaron Judge tallied his 44th RBI. Before that, second baseman DJ LeMahieu got New York started with an RBI groundout in the second inning.
Domínguez has certainly had his ups and downs in 2025, but it feels like he’s starting to turn the corner of late.
The talented rookie boosted his batting average up to .241 against the Rangers on Wednesday. He also increased his slugging percentage up to .438.
On the season, Domínguez has an OPS of .778. He’s done some of his best work over the past month and change, with 5 home runs and 17 RBI since April 15.
