The Buffalo Bills had high hopes for former first-round cornerback Kaiir Elam back in the 2022 draft. The team was coming off a disappointing playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and felt some added depth in the secondary could do wonders.

There was just one problem. Elam wasn’t the cornerback that became the lockdown player.

Sixth-round star from Villanova Christian Benford earned the starting cornerback job from his rookie season. And it left Elam as a mere backup for most of his time Buffalo over the least three seasons.

Now that he has found a new home with the Dallas Cowboys after a trade dump, Elam’s time is over in Western New York. And he’s ready to tell everyone how much better off he is.

“I feel like the energy here (in Dallas) is something I’ve never been a part of,” said Elam. “I love the enthusiasm, and also I would just say the energy from the coaching staff, they actually make you feel like they care, and that’s something that’s very exciting.”

This is not the first time Elam has spoken out about how his time in Buffalo wasn’t what he expected. While there were many different factors to it, the Florida product simply doesn’t believe he got a fair shake.

“Coming to Buffalo, I was a kid that just wanted to improve and learn and really show off my talents. But I was always put in the back seat,” Elam previously stated.

Things are far different in Dallas than they were in Buffalo for Elam. He’s presently working with the first team at Cowboys OTAs … So at the very least now, he gets what he believes is a fair chance to make an impact in the NFL.
