NFL defenses have learned over the years that slowing down Patrick Mahomes is anything but easy.
Since entering the NFL in 2017, Mahomes has thrown for 32,352 yards and 245 touchdowns. If he retired today, there’d be a spot waiting for him in the Hall of Fame. After all, he’s a three-time Super Bowl champion with six Pro Bowl nominations under his belt.
Although it doesn’t seem possible, Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs could take their game to the next level this fall. Speaking to reporters at OTAs, the two-time MVP made it clear that his squad is highly motivated to avenge last season’s Super Bowl loss.
“When you lose a Super Bowl, I think there’s sometimes in those workouts, you may be a little tired, you have that extra added motivation to finish even harder, finish even stronger,” Mahomes told reporters, via USA Today. “I think it’ll be good for us at the end of the day.
“I mean, obviously looking back, you want to win the game. But a lot these guys hadn’t lost one (Super Bowl), hadn’t ended the season on a loss that are on this team now. So, I’m sure they’ll be motivated to go back out there and try to find a way to get to the Super Bowl and win it this year.”

Mahomes struggled in Super Bowl LIX, tossing two interceptions in the team’s 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Chiefs will begin their 2025 season against the Los Angeles Chargers. That AFC East showdown will be played in Brazil. They’ll have a chance for revenge against the Eagles in Week 2 at home.
We’ll see if Mahomes ends up making the rest of the NFL pay this fall.
