Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice is making his way back from a knee injury that saw his 2024 season end after just four games, and the good-news progress he’s making will surely put a smile on the faces of fans and the coaching staff.
With the defending AFC champs beginning OTAs, this is the time of year when, if a player is nursing an injury or, in Rice’s case, making a return from a significant one, it is steady as she goes.
But in what is somewhat of a surprise, yet a great one at that, per Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star, Rashee wasn’t just on the field doing bits and pieces, he was doing everything.
“Rashee Rice, a full participant, had a good day,” McDowell posted on X.
Given how the offense struggled at times last season with Rice out, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown not being sighted until Week 16, and the up-and-down form of Travis Kelce, there is a lot of upside for the offense.
For Rice, it is a great sign that he is a full participant at OTAs, but no doubt the Chiefs will take a cautious approach with their No. 1 weapon.
Training camp is a long, arduous grind for players, and we imagine that Rice will be managed through it, much like he is at OTAs.
Still, having him on the grass now is a good sign that, come the beginning of the season, the Chiefs will have their No. 1 weapon fully fit and ready to pick up where he left off last season.
