Heading into the offseason, every team has positional needs, and additions are made and departures occur. That leads to the positional battles in OTAs and minicamp to determine who will get the job, or at least temporarily, in the new season.
One of the most intriguing position battles for the Dolphins this offseason is the cornerback competition.
The Dolphins will look to replace Kendall Fuller, who was released in February after playing his first season with the team, and Jaylen Ramsey, who is likely to be traded at some point this offseason.
Both players were top 10 tacklers for the Dolphins in 2024. Ramsey had two interceptions, and Fuller had a forced fumble.

The leading candidates to replace the duo are Storm Duck and Cam Smith.
Duck is a second-year defensive back out of Louisville. As a rookie in 2024, he appeared in 14 games and made three starts, recording 34 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and four passes defended.
Before transferring to Louisville for his final collegiate season, Duck spent four years at North Carolina. He finished his college career with 135 tackles, 24 passes defended, five interceptions, and five tackles for loss.
Smith was the Dolphins’ second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of South Carolina. He will be entering his third season in the NFL with 21 games of experience.
