FRISCO — Micah Parsons didn’t do much, if anything, on the field for the Dallas Cowboys during Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp opening here at The Star.

But he did do one thing for certain: He met with team owner Jerry Jones.

As the Cowboys take on a new tone under first-year coach Brian Schottenheimer, the team had 100-percent attendance on this first day of minicamp.

Among those present? Cowboys defensive star Micah Parsons.

Originally, Micah hoped to have his extension signed and done months ago … maybe to the tune of five years and $200 million.

That hasn’t happened, despite a series of one-on-one meetings between Parsons and either Jerry or Stephen Jones.

But on Tuesday came yet another meeting … and while the conversation between Micah and Jerry was private?

We did get to see it unfold from the sidelines at practice.

Micah told us afterward that contract talks were not central to the visit.

And he continues to maintain patience, it seems.

“I’m still hanging tight,” he said. “I understand it’s up to (him). He gives the green light on everything. So hopefully something is done by next month.”

What’s “next month”? On July 20, the Cowboys will make their yearly pilgrimage to Oxnard, California, for training camp. Parsons said he plans to be in attendance though his level of participation might depend on how negotiations progress.

“Yeah, some people like to take their time more than others you can’t rush the process,” Parsona said. “(Jerry) wants the deal to go as cleanly as possible. I want the deal to go as cleanly as possible.”

How will this thing get done?

In the end, more “private” meetings …

And then one final “green light” from Jerry Jones.
