Micah Parsons has to wait a bit longer to receive a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys. In the meantime, owner Jerry Jones decided to raise the salary of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
According to reports, Jones and the Cowboys’ front office increased the salary of DCC by 400%. This generous revamp comes months after Netflix released the first season of America’s Sweethearts, based on the cheerleaders who have represented the Cowboys during NFL games over the years.
Sports Illustrated reported that most of the cheerleaders had to work two jobs to make ends meet because the wages from the cheering gig weren’t enough to pay bills.
A former cheerleader named Erica Wilkins sued the Cowboys back in 2018 due to pay disparity. In the lawsuit, Wilkins alleged earning $7 an hour with no overtime pay and $200 per game.
After agreeing on an out-of-court settlement, the Cowboys cheerleaders’ salaries doubled. They now earned $14 an hour and $500 per game they appeared in.
However, the 400% increase means they will likely earn more than $70 per hour, which is massive.
Jerry Jones’ increasing the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ salary receives mixed reactions
The cheerleaders have been demanding a significant increase in their salaries for quite some time. They put in a lot of effort throughout the year to meet the standards of being a Cowboys cheerleader.

Each contract with the cheerleader is one year long. They must maintain makeup standards of ‘neutral and natural,’ but the biggest requirement is staying in shape. Gaining weight is a big red flag.
Despite following strict rules, the cheerleaders did not earn much until the new revamp. However, fans questioned Jones’ decision because several players are eyeing a new deal.
Jones is infamous for dragging out contract negotiations with his players. Star pass rusher Micah Parsons is waiting for a new extension. Jones risks paying him more than the rumored handshake deal.
Only Jerry knows the timeline for Parsons’ extension. Even Parsons’ biggest rival, Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett, believes the Penn State graduate deserves every penny.
I think he deserves whatever he’s earned. Once I got the chance to train with him. I’ve seen his work ethic. I’ve seen how he attacks. The weights. Running. He’s 100% committed to his craft and getting better every day. He has that level of dedication to the game. He should get every penny he’s owed.
Myles Garrett said
Parsons is ready to wait, but it will undeniably cost Jones more.
