Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has already done enough in his NFL career to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

And while the 35-year-old briefly considered retiring after losing Super Bowl LIX, he’s far from ready to hang up his cleats. Kelce told reporters on June 18, “I know I’m getting older, but at the same time I still feel like I got a lot that I can prove in this league.

“It really wasn’t that hard of a decision for me,” he said of returning to play in 2025. “I still felt like I had that fire in my chest to be able to keep coming in and building and be better and chase another Super Bowl.”

Kelce’s older brother, Jason Kelce, retired at age 36 after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jason, a former six-time First-Team All-Pro, is also expected to make a trip to Canton, Ohio and wear a gold jacket one day.

While Jason prepares for his second season as a co-host of “Monday Night Countdown,” he and his little brother were at the top of ESPN’s minds when they formulated the NFL’s All Quarter Century Team.

The Chiefs star and the former Eagles center made the 53-man roster. To celebrate the occasion, the Kelce brothers’ alma mater, University of Cincinnati, celebrated the occasion with an announcement on June 20.

The Cincinnati Bearcats football team shared the big news and wrote, “Congrats, fellas!”

ESPN’s Seth Walder, who helped draw up the honorary list with Aaron Schtaz, wrote of Travis, “Kelce is simply the best pure receiving tight end in this quarter century. If we count the postseason, Kelce recorded more receiving yards (14,229) than any other tight end in this span.”

Walder wrote of Jason, “Kelce’s six first-team All-Pro selections are by far the most of any center — no other player has had more than two since 2000. Kelce helped lead the Eagles to two Super Bowl appearances and revolutionized third- and fourth-and-1s leaguewide with his critical role in the (still permitted!) tush push play.”
