The Miami Dolphins could be moving on from linebacker Bradley Chubb after the upcoming season to save money.
Chubb is currently on a three-year contract worth up to $54 million, but is only set to make $20 million guaranteed in 2025. This came after already restructuring a pay cut from his previous deal.
According to A-to-Z Sports’ Kyle Crabbs, Chubb may not be worth the money, which could lead to his release.
“Chubb’s talent is undeniable but he’s a player who is set to turn 30 years old” Crabbs said. “There’s a world in which Chubb earns that money — it must see him return to his 2023 form and stay healthy all season to become reality, though.”
Crabbs also noted that Chubb has no guaranteed money left on his contract after this season, which would make it relatively easy for the team to move on.

After being traded midseason from Denver in 2022, Chubb has played just 24 total games with Miami, racking up 13.5 sacks and 86 tackles. He missed all of last season after tearing multiple ligaments in his knee.
It is also important to mention that the Dolphins essentially drafted Chubb’s replacement in Penn State‘s Chop Robinson in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Robinson had six sacks last year and was healthy for all 17 games.
Robinson and Jaelan Phillips, who have also battled injuries with Miami, could serve as cheaper edge rushers after 2025. If Chubb has a decent to monster season this year and stays relatively healthy, it will make it a lot harder for the Dolphins to part ways. This will be a critical year for Chubb to determine his future with the team and in the NFL.
