The Kansas City Chiefs’ streak of winning incredibly close one-score games continued against the Las Vegas Raiders.
During the primetime Black Friday showdown on Nov. 29, the Chiefs blew a 13-point lead in the third quarter and by a stroke of luck, held on to win 19-17. With 14 seconds left in the game, Las Vegas was already in field goal range and looked to add a few more yards on a crucial third down.
However, Raiders rookie center Jackson Powers-Johnson snapped the ball too early during and quarterback Aidan O’Connell was unprepared. After the ball bounced off O’Connell’s chest and onto the ground, Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton took possession and sealed the win for Kansas City.
Taylor Swift attended the matchup at Arrowhead Stadium to cheer for her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Amazon Prime’s cameras captured Swift’s reaction to the game’s wild finish and fans were able to lip-read her comment.
While cheering alongside Sheawna Weathersby, Chiefs defensive tackles Chris Jones’ girlfriend, “I need to go to the hospital, Oh my god!” Swift said.
One fan responded, “I think a lot of people felt that way. I think that ending was super unfortunate and lame myself.” Another person posted, ‘Taylor’s reaction says it all! Last night’s game had everyone on the edge of their seats.” One woman commented, “HAHAHHAHAH SHE IS SO ME.”
The 34-year-old pop star, like all of Chiefs Kingdom, has watched numerous nail-biters this season. Kansas City has now won 14 consecutive one-score games, the longest such streak in NFL history.
Despite already clinching a spot in the playoffs, Kelce, along with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are extremely tired of winning games by the skin of their teeth.
Mahomes told reporters after the game, “Just too many mistakes at the end of the day. I feel like there was times offensively we moved the ball. Didn’t execute in the red zone. Didn’t execute good enough on third down. Too many mistakes. We’ve gotta clean that up if we wanna get to where we wanna go.”
While the Chiefs can’t seem to lose when Swift is in attendance, she won’t be able support Kelce in person during Kansas City’s Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The “All Too Well” singer kicks off the last weekend of her Eras concert tour in Vancouver on Dec. 6. While the Chiefs host the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 8, she’ll be performing her final show.
