The Dallas Cowboys have some good momentum building after their 27-20 win over the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium, with Mike McCarthy‘s team now winning back-to-back games.
Cooper Rush, who has stepped in for the injured Dak Prescott, is beginning to find his feet as the starter after a bumpy first two games, but now he is settling down and being the “elite bus driver” McCarthy wants him to be.
Rush went 21 for 36 with 195 passing yards and one touchdown in the win over New York and expressed his satisfaction at finally being able to play in one of the biggest games on the calendar.
“It was cool, it was special, been here on a lot of Thanksgiving days over the years and finally getting to start one, play one was cool,” Rush said, revealing the emotion of such a game. “You have turkey bowls when you’re a kid and you get to go have a real one in the NFL, it’s pretty cool. It’s a lot of fun, and obviously, the win makes it even better.”
Rush is now 2-2 as the starter, throwing for 1,008 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions as the long-time NFL backup is going about his business in an orderly fashion.
With the win, Dallas is still in playoff contention. Even though many don’t consider McCarthy’s team to be of “playoff caliber,” the hope still remains.
Micah Parsons says the defense is finally over its learning period with Mike Zimmer’s defense, and the offense has been able to move the ball well in the last two games.
Rush has always been a dependable backup, and while it came at the expense of Dak, he finally got his “turkey bowl” moment, and he made the most of it.
