The Buffalo Bills are set to return to action in Week 13 after enjoying their bye week, and they will be facing off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. Ahead of this contest, though, they made a surprising move at the quarterback position involving Mike White.
Quarterback isn’t a spot the Bills typically have to worry about, as they have one of the best in the business in Josh Allen under center on a weekly basis. Allen has been on fire as of late, and he’s not dealing with any known injuries currently, as he was not on the team’s injury report at all throughout the week.
You can never have too much protection at the spot, though, and Buffalo has that in veteran backup Mitch Trubisky. However, the Bills added another quarterback to their active roster on Saturday afternoon, as they promoted Mike White to the active roster ahead of their clash with the Niners.
Per the team’s PR account on X, formerly known as Twitter,
“Today’s roster moves:
– Elevated TE Zach Davidson and QB Mike White from the practice squad for Sunday’s game vs San Francisco.
– Activated LB Matt Milano from Injured Reserved
Injury report update
– DT DeWayne Carter (wrist) was downgraded to out.”
Getting Matt Milano back from injured reserve should be the biggest piece of news, but the team deciding to elevate White from the practice squad to the active roster caught drew attention, as fans immediately wondered whether Allen was dealing with some sort of unknown ailment.
Chances are the Bills will make White their emergency third-string quarterback for this game, just in case they desperately need him. With an extra roster spot at their disposal, Buffalo has the space on their roster to carry White for this one to ensure that they are well stocked at quarterback.
Unless something catastrophic happens, though, Allen will be under center for the Bills throughout this huge game against the 49ers, and they will need him to deliver the goods once again. Kickoff for this contest is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 1st.
