The Kansas City Chiefs are on track to win the AFC with an 11-1 record. This marks the 10th straight season that they will be making an appearance in the postseason and despite having won against the best teams in the league, five of their wins have come down to the wire and have been within a margin of 5 points.

The team’s recent victory against the Las Vegas Raiders came by a margin of 2 points and fortunately, because of a fumble by the team, the Chiefs were able to win. Star defensive end Chris Jones understands that their success has been bittersweet so far but he isn’t concerned because the team has found a way to win games and that is what matters in the NFL.

After his performance on Friday wherein he had two sacks, Chris Jones said that the game served as a learning experience and the Chiefs will be able to learn from the mistakes they made moving forward.

When you look at the playoffs, most games are close, down-to-the-wire type of games, so there’s a lot we can build from this as a team overall. We’re just going to keep on winning, keep on winning. You can learn a lot from winning.

He does not view the team’s narrow victories as a downside but believes they are great as they prepare them for the playoffs.

Chris Jones believes the Chiefs’ narrow wins help them keep their cool in nerve-wracking situations

Teams that win by large margins during the regular season tend to falter in the playoffs where it is common to see games come down to a margin of under 5 points. Since they have not experienced such situations during the regular season, the players panic and lose their calm which results in bad decisions. In that way, the Kansas City Chiefs have an edge over the competition.

The defensive end added that a win in any form is better than taking a loss. “It is better to win than have a pretty loss. We’ll take an ugly win, build from it and continue to get better,” he said. Ultimately, it is victories that take you to the playoffs in the NFL. Fans do not remember teams that play good football but end up losing, it is the winners who are remembered.

So far, the Buffalo Bills have been the only team to beat the Chiefs. As the season winds down, the team will hope to go undefeated. The Week 16 and 17 matchups against the Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers will be challenging for the Chiefs but apart from these teams, they can win against the Chargers, Browns, and the Broncos.
