BREAKING: 49ers Could Have Key Defensive Player Back Against the Rams

It’s likely that the 49ers could have this key defensive player back in their starting lineup against the Rams in Week 15.

The San Francisco 49ers have received a little positivity recently. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw could be back for the 49ers when they play the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football in Week 15.

“I think it does. More likely,” Shanahan said on Greenlaw returning against the Rams. “We haven’t decided fully yet, but we’ll see how this week goes, but most likely Rams hopefully.”

Greenlaw is entering his second week of practice with the 49ers. He had been resting and conducting his own workouts on the side as he works his way back from a torn Achilles. Greenlaw suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs nearly 10 months ago.

His timeline for recovery seems on track, so if he’s fit, he will make his debut against the Rams. Having Greenlaw back is sure to lighten up the mood for the 49ers. They have lacked a fiery player on defense, which is the epitome of what Greenlaw is. He’s an emotional player that sets the tone.

Don’t be surprised if the defense looks a little better with him out there. But the real question is: how will he look in his return? He probably won’t pick up where he left off before he got hurt. Some time will likely be needed for him to get there. There’s also the question of his mental state.

Does he play freely? Or is he in his head about his surgically repaired Achilles? It may seem risky for the 49ers to bring Greenlaw in what is bound to be a lost season. However, he needs to play before he becomes a free agent in March. Both the 49ers and Greenlaw have to see where is he at.

Besides, I doubt anyone can be able to restrict Greenlaw from playing if he feels ready to go.
