While most NFL players have little-to-no issue with how much publicity Taylor Swift has been getting from the league because of her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
In fact, a recent anonymous player poll conducted by The Athletic confirms that very fact. Of the 102 recorded responses, 72.5% of the players polled believe that Swift has had a positive effect on the NFL, while 22.5% were indifferent and only 4.9% believe Swift is having a negative impact on the league.
And while some fans lean the other way on the issue, the general consensus seems to be that the more Swift is featured — and subsequently the more people she’s exposing the game to — the better it is for the NFL’s bottom line.
“I think it’s been positive for the league,” one player told The Athletic. “I think that at the end of the day, it’s a business and you need to get as many eyes on it as possible. And she brings a lot of eyes, so, you know, if that increases the salary cap, I don’t think anybody’s gonna be too mad about that one.”
So when the official “Sunday Night Football” X account tweeted a graphic comparing Kelce and Swift’s performances since they started dating last year while promoting Kansas City’s Week 14 “SNF” matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers — a game Swift will not be at due to her final “Eras Tour” show in Vancouver — fans flocked to the comment section to applaud the league for leaning into SwiftMania.
“Never did I expect to see this from SNF but go off queen,” one fan wrote.
“I just love how the NFL has embraced Taylor in every way possible, and I love even more that it pisses [expletive] off,” another chimed in.
“What an amazing post!,” another responded.
“Love that you posted this!” one user wrote.
“Whoever did this, bravo 👏 👏,” another user commented.
Swift’s “Eras Tour” wraps up on Dec. 8 after spanning two years, 54 cities and five continents.
