Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players of all time, and he’s apparently pretty good at football; however, acting doesn’t seem to be his strongest suit. As a professional athlete, acting ranks pretty low on the list of required skills, but he’s no stranger to the camera.

Even with all that experience, Nadal likely isn’t staring at a second career in Hollywood, at least not according to his most recent acting stint. The Spaniard did a commercial for the app Playtomic, which allows amateur tennis players to connect with other players of a similar rank. In the video, Nadal is seen doing a couple of takes of different scenes with the directors providing him input on what to adjust in his acting.

The nature of the skit is pretty comedic because it’s obvious that Nadal is doing a few things on purpose, and he’s providing commentary about the app in real-time, commentary that differs quite a bit from what he’s actually saying. He’s way more critical of the app in his mind than what he’s speaking in the commercial.

Overall, though, it was a pretty cool sequence from Nadal, who, as we mentioned above, is no stranger to the camera.

Nadal in front of the cameras

As a professional tennis player, Nadal is no stranger to the cameras because he is followed around by cameras all the time. Whether he’s playing or giving a press conference before or after a match, the Spaniard always has a camera pointed towards him.

Even outside of that though, Nadal has had experiences, so much so that he has an official IMDb page with quite a few credits. One notable one was all the way back in 2010 when he appeared as the love interest for Shakira in the video of her then-new song “Gypsy.” Outside of that, he was featured in a couple of documentaries and shows such as the Wimbledon TV series which lasted between 2014 and 2018 airing twelve episodes.

He appeared as himself there, which he also did for the 2008 Wimbledon final by Cathy Jones in 2008. Time will tell if we’re going to see him in something else in the future because now he’s free to do everything and most of his time probably won’t be spent playing golf because he enjoys working.

As much as he loves golf, it will be pretty hard to imagine Nadal spending most of his time doing that. Maybe a feature film in the future? Maybe more cameos? Time will tell.
