Andy Murray makes shock career change after Novak Djokovic coaching split

Andy Murray may no longer be Novak Djokovic’s coach, but the Scot isn’t slowing down.

In an interview with The Times, Murray revealed he has undergone a drastic career pivot and will become an associate partner at a London-based investment firm, Redrice Ventures.

“I’m also only 38 years old, so that’s a long time to be retired,” Murray said.

“My plan was always to spend more time on my other business interests once I’d finished playing tennis, and I’m enjoying starting to work on some of those projects now.”

Murray had previously collaborated with Redrice Ventures on a co-investment in sportswear company Castore.

The Scot was first sponsored by Castore in January 2019 before he became a shareholder in the company just two months later.

Redrice Ventures has also invested in brands that specialise in reusable water bottles, alcohol delivery services and athletic footwear.

Murray’s role with Redrice Ventures is also not his first foray in business.

The three-time grand slam champion already holds business interests in a five-star country house hotel in Scotland, a padel organisation and a crowdfunding platform.

News of Murray’s role with Redrice Ventures arrived nearly a week after it was confirmed his time as Djokovic’s coach had ended.

The decision was made by a mutual agreement.

“Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun and support over last six months on and off the court – really enjoyed deepening our friendship together,” Djokovic said.

“Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together, and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months,” Murray added.

“I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season.”

The tennis world was sent into a frenzy when Murray and Djokovic’s unlikely union was announced last November.

Murray and Djokovic’s partnership began brightly as the Serbian enjoyed a deep run at the Australian Open, only for his tournament to be curtailed via injury in the semi-finals.

But since the opening grand slam of the year, Djokovic’s form has plummeted.

The Serbian has lost the first match in four of his last five tournament appearances.

Djokovic also reached the final of the Miami Open but was beaten in straight sets by 19-year-old sensation Jakub Mensik.

The 37-year-old’s attention is now firmly fixated on the French Open, with the main draw to begin on May 25.

Djokovic is hoping to become a four-time Roland Garros champion having previously triumphed in 2016, 2021 and 2023.
